Artist's Comments

This cat is carved using tupelo wood. The tail is a separate piece. I used an old paint brush for the whiskers. My cat was my model.

I just love this! I think this would make an excellent submission to the club. Is your cat that modeled for this a shelter rescue?

It was once told in Symmyrnea... That whoever would talk to pine barks in the forest, write the mystery on the sea with ancient woods and take those faces to the isolated rocks on an island, would find the road to OEGGEM. And...(the end is the beginning)

Thanks for adding to your favs. She was from an Oriental Shorthair rescue. She went from show cat to a "no one wants cat" because she had to be spayed as a result of a difficult pregnancy.

Thank you so much. It was the carving I had the most fun doing.

Thank you. Tupelo wood is found in the States and southern Canada. It is a soft wood with not much grain so it is very good for this type of carving. Basswood is another very popular carving wood.

Thanks so much. I checked out your work. Legends of Symmyrnea is very good and a great piece to study. How many different pieces of wood are in it?
:iconbobbijp60:
how long did it take you and did you do it by hand?
